Financial Aid & The Scarlet Hub
Rutgers students can access all financial aid and registration info through the Scarlet Hub, including step-by-step guides and videos on applying for aid, completing the FAFSA, and understanding loans.
To qualify for loans, grants, scholarships, or student employment, students applying to any two- or four-year college must apply for financial aid. Visit Rutgers Financial Services for detailed walk-throughs and instructional videos on the process.
Affordable Education at Rutgers
Bridging the Gap: Rutgers–Camden
Ensures that eligible students pay a fixed amount for their annual tuition and mandatory fees. Rutgers University–Camden applies this special “last dollar” financial aid program to the remaining costs of your in-state tuition and additional mandatory fees after any other need-based federal, state, and/or institutional aid has been applied.
RUN To The Top: Rutgers–Newark
Provides a “last-dollar” financial aid scholarship that covers the cost of in-state tuition and mandatory fees. The scholarship is offered after all federal, state, institutional, internal/external scholarships and grants have been applied. Students must meet the program’s eligibility and income requirements. No separate application is required for this scholarship.
Scarlet Guarantee: Rutgers–New Brunswick
Designed to make college more accessible and affordable by offering a “last dollar” financial aid award that covers the cost of in-state tuition and eligible fees for qualified students who have earned less than 60 credits. Together with the Garden State Guarantee, these programs provide a transformational opportunity for students that will bridge the gap of resources needed to start and finish their higher education. The Garden State Guarantee (GSG)
New Jersey is committed to making a college degree more accessible and affordable by reducing out-of-pocket costs for students and families. The state is limiting the amount of debt residents need to borrow to attend in-state public colleges or universities. This initiative builds on Governor Phil Murphy’s ongoing efforts to improve college affordability.
Community College Opportunity Grants (CCOG)
Provides tuition and fee assistance for New Jersey residents based on income eligibility. Residents with an annual adjusted gross income (AGI) between $0 and $65,000 receive full coverage for tuition and approved educational fees. Those with AGIs between $65,001 and $80,000 benefit from reduced tuition, with up to 50% of the maximum CCOG award applied. The grant covers any remaining tuition and fees not covered by federal, state, or scholarship aid.
